Build the concept. Hufft Projects has wide-ranging experience with original designs for contemporary buildings and creative restoration of historical structures. Architects, artists, designers and craftsmen who work in the company’s metal, wood and digital studios bridge trades and technology to see projects through design, fabrication and construction.
Plan the strategy. The Hufft strategy is simple: Listen carefully to clients’ needs, then take an interdisciplinary approach to applying extraordinary amounts of experience, craft and technical innovation to create beautiful, thought-provoking designs. From foundation to furniture, clients trust Hufft Projects with architecture, interior design, object design, custom fabrication, environmental sustainability and graphic design.
Grow the revenue. Jesse and Matthew Hufft started the business with one employee and two residential commissions. Thanks to their successful approach, they received their first commercial project the very next year. They have grown the business by remaining true to their passion for craftsmanship while steadily adding experienced talent that expands the services Hufft Projects offers. As a result, Hufft was named among 2012’s Fifteen Young Firms to Watch by Residential Architect magazine, was honored in 2013 as the American Institute of Architects Kansas City Firm of the Year and in 2015 was One of Architectural Digest’s Architects on the Rise.
Expand the market. Jesse says expansion plans are organically driven by client needs and guided by a long-term business plan. The company’s website tells the firm’s story, and visually outlines its services and projects, but its most powerful engine for business growth can be summed up in two words — happy clients. In fact, the Huffts stay in contact with current and many former clients, and often invite them to cocktail hours or meals at their home.
Insight/Hindsight. “The FastTrac facilitator became a mentor and business advisor who helped me see the bigger picture, think strategically, look 15 years down the road and create a timeline to keep progress on course. The emphasis on developing a plan or ‘roadmap’ has proven critical to growing the business.”
