Build the concept. AEC Green Lighting helps reduce customers’ long-term energy costs by supplying and installing geothermal heating and cooling systems; solar roofs and shingles; solar panels; and solar streetlights and hybrid solar/wind power LED (light-emitting diode) streetlights.

Plan the strategy. AEC Green Lighting is a veteran-owned, minority-owned business dedicated to helping protect the environment, and to providing Detroit-area commercial, residential and industrial customers with eco-friendly, sustainable  services and products that reduce their long-term energy costs.

In addition to being licensed and insured by the State of Michigan and the federal government as a construction contractor, AEC Green Lighting is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP2), which helps state and local governments acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that otherwise could become abandoned and blighted.

Grow the revenue. While the company offers a variety of “green” products and services, successfully introducing local governments, and local and national contractors to its efficient, sustainable-energy streetlights has provided its main source of revenue growth. AEC Green Lighting guarantees that its LED streetlights will slash customers’ electric bills, will be installed quickly and efficiently overnight without disturbance during regular business hours, and will come with a free three-year maintenance contract that can be extended for a fee.

Aubrey E. Crosby, the company owner/founder, adds that the firm’s success to date is due to the team’s determination to recognize the budget and personnel constraints of area businesses, and respond with personalized services that meet distinct needs. The team also works effectively and closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, designers and agents to ensure smooth, successful projects.

Expand the market. Otto says Crosby believes customer service and satisfaction are paramount to future success and expansion, and he is passionate about instilling that belief in everyone affiliated with AEC Green Lighting. While the team members will continue striving to provide the highest level of satisfaction to all customers, they plan to expand through a focus on winning contracts in the industrial and commercial sectors, which currently provide significant opportunities.

Insight/Hindsight. “FastTrac broadened my business knowledge and taught me about aspects of entrepreneurial operation I hadn’t considered before. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.”
