Build the concept. TallulahBelle’s offers an extraordinary collection of exquisitely designed and handcrafted jewelry, handbags, textiles, blown glass, woodworks and more. Each one-of-a-kind piece — created by local, regional or national artists — is painstakingly selected for its distinctive character and beauty.

Plan the strategy. The TallulahBelle’s experience caters to the casual craft lover and the serious collector who understand art as a gift that transcends time. The carefully curated collection makes looking at, learning about, and buying art and fine craft exciting and memorable.

Grow the revenue. The key to the company’s success is highly personalized customer service delivered by associates who are committed to creating memorable experiences. Coleman adds that the TallulahBelle’s team believes each piece of art is as unique as the recipient, so the business has grown because she chooses to offer only items that tell a story and share a unique vision brought to life by an artist’s hand. As a result, the gallery was recognized in “Most Fabulous 22: Best Wearable Art,” in the August 2012 issue of 435 South magazine, and Coleman’s business approach led Kansas City Magazine to name her among 2013’s 100 most influential people.

Expand the market. Coleman strongly believes personal customer contact is the best way to expand the business, but she also recognizes that convenience is key in today’s hectic world. That’s why, during late 2015, she launched a website with an online shopping opportunity. During 2016, she intends to seek and present unique artwork through the combined brick-and-mortar and online presence.

Insight/Hindsight. “FastTrac provided a structured format in which I could fully develop and vet business concepts. The program, trained facilitators and other participants were supportive and offered insightful questions and opinions.”
